April started with a much needed Easter break catching up with friends and family around the Coast before getting right back into a big run of filming.
We first got back with our creative family Troy Freyee and Ainsly of Sticks & Stones for a Splendour promo vid focusing on the TeePee love section. We spent a crisp arvo out in Byron filming a taste of whats to expect going into this years line up. Its always a good day when we get together bouncing shot ideas to create a vibe around such a fun event.
From here we rolled into a good run of music videos with Richy Sand a Adelaide based artist for his second single Luv Sux as well as new music from Manu Crook$ Carmouflage Rose and another new local talent Dale Brumfield also from Adelaide.
Richy flew into the Gold Coast and we picked of the beautuful morning light in at Broadbeach for our first shots then moved onto a local house in at Burleigh.
Not long after this shoot, we receive the good news a fast approaching trip to LA was in the works with our Producer and good friend Alex from Sydney and it was not long before Nick was on his way to film some documentary style shoots as well as some side projects in the mix. Working with featured artist Tray Haggerty based in LA that is on a song with the Melbourne based artist Nyne. It was a good opportunity to triple up on shoots with some fast paced networking to come away with some epic visuals.
Meanwhile back in Australia Jáen was working with a Sydney based DOP Jullian Machucha to lock in yet another clip of Manu Crook$ Paranoia before he leaves on his Canadian tour. We faced a few hurdles with props and locations on this shoot but like always we make do with whats at hand to make it all come together. It also happened to be Friday the 13th mid shoot of this which made it evan more interesting.
With Nick still in LA we have multiple shooters working with myself Directing (Jon Baxter) on a number of projects. We have Jellan Merchant coming through and attend a local Mercedes Bens event where there is a FMX rider Pat Bowden performing a series of stunts in front of a decent crowed all for the release of there new vehicle.
Another two music videos with two more shooters is done before Nick returns, working witrh Jesse Lane to shoot the Carmouflage Rose clip Wild Flowers in and around the east coast. Beach, bush and studio shots were taken with the feature of a horse rider/Model Bronte Zaicew to star in the clip. On the back end of this shoot I team up with Alan Woodman a Burleigh based film maker to film a new artist on the scene Brummy and his first single to be released Back Seat. This clip features Shanti Griffin in a love lost moody film clip.
After a massive haul of music video shooting we roll into the mid week Anzac day commemorations and pay our respects to the Diggers fallen that have blessed us with this amazing country we call home. With the month coming to an end we continue our run of music videos for the month of April. We attend a Live show at TBC in Brisbane with TravyP and I.E. where we celebrate long into the night knowing the very next day we are rolling right into a shoot for there song together Mistakes. This clip features a couple plotting to rob a unwilling man that ends in a show down at his house.
We film long into the night wearing our hangovers on our sleeves we grind to get the shoot done. We come away with some epic shots around Brisbane china town and alley locations. We call it a night around 10pm with a few more scenes to go. They will be for the following month to pick up on as the boys are heading back to Sydney the Following day.
What a month it was in the life of Jáen see it all recapped below and a sneak preview of the vids to come. Bring on the Month of May
